Harry Philp

Harry has over 25 years experience in project finance and corporate finance covering a wide range of power, oil and gas and sports industry infrastructure assignments.

During his career he has worked for major financial institutions Chemical Bank, Chase Manhattan, GE Capital as well as co-founding an investment banking advisory boutique, Inner Circle Sports / Hermes Sports Partners.

Over the course of his career he has advised on and arranged financings for a wide variety of power transactions including the Serene CHP projects in Italy, the 4,400 MW Belchatow and 1,775 MW Rybnik power projects in Poland, the 1040 MW Vizag IPP in India, advised financial investors on the purchase of distribution assets in the UK and generating assets in Italy, and advised on the sale of a major district heating system in Sweden. In the sports area Harry has advised a number of football clubs on financings for new stadium including Athletic Club de Bilbao, Galatasaray, Everton, Inter Milan and Liverpool and has advised GE Commercial finance on a securitisation transaction for Real Madrid.

At Portland Advisers, Harry has advised on a number of large project financings involving leading export credit agencies. Highlights include advising the export credit agency group on the $4.6bn debt financing of Coral FLNG, Mozambique, advising US EXIM on the $7bn limited recourse financing for Roy Hill iron ore mining project in Australia and the export credit agencies on the $3.5bn of financing which they provided for the Wa’ad Al Shamal phosphate project in Saudi Arabia.

Prior to commencing his banking career, Harry worked for Marathon Oil Corporation relating to its North Sea upstream field developments.

Harry has a MA(Hons) in Economics and Accountancy and a MSc in International Banking and Finance.
