Flitterman Chairs Panel at TMT Finance Conference

In the conference season, Nick Flitterman, Portland’s Head of Telecom’s, chaired a panel discussion amongst bankers and financing executives at TMT Finance’s annual M&A forum in London on 14th March.

With representatives from BNP Paribas, Investec, the EBRD, Digital World Capital and Houlihan Lokey, Nick guided the panel through a lively discussion of topical financing issues including the high level of liquidity in the leveraged bank market for telecom credits, the ups and downs of the high yield bond market and needs of banks as they assess credit proposals for telecom infrastructure projects.

Portland Panelist at Telecom Finance 2013 Conference

On 30th January, demonstrating his continued thought leadership in the sector, Nick Flitterman, Portland’s Head of Telecoms, joined a distinguished panel of bankers and finance executives at Telecom Finance’s annual conference in London to discuss a number of topical issues and trends in financing telecom infrastructure projects today.

The panel debated topics such as pressure on bank margins, growing use of ECAs in the sector, the improving level of liquidity in the bank market as European banks start to re-enter the fray, and the increasing presence of Chinese banks in funding telecom projects.

Portland expertise on financing new projects highlighted

On 8th September, Nick Flitterman, one of Portland’s founding partners and its Head of Telecoms, participated on a conference panel at Euroconsult’s World Satellite Business Week in Paris discussing the issues and solutions surrounding raising finance for new and early stage projects in the satellite sector.

Moderated by the editor of Satellite Finance, Ed Ansell , and joined by other high profile panellists from Coface, Société Générale and O3b Networks (one of Portland’s’ clients), the discussion covered topics such as timing and method of approach to banks, consideration of financial market conditions, the importance of good preparation, and the optimal use of Export Credit in the structuring of financing solutions.

Flitterman chairs EU broadband conference

On 26th and 27th October 2009 in Berlin, the European Academy for Taxes, Economics & Law sponsored a prestigious event on “How to Finance Broadband Infrastructure”, with Portland’s Head of Telecoms, Nick Flitterman, chairing the first day of proceedings.

Portland presence at Pagnanelli Space conference

The world-renowned Pagnanelli space insurance conference was held this year on the Lido in Venice on 2nd and 3rd April 2009. Attended by the great and the good of the satellite industry, from operators to suppliers, insurers to governments, the participants took the opportunity to share experiences and expertise during this the 30th anniversaryal of the event.
